Jeff Cotton is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of True Mountain Capital, where he guides the firm’s strategic vision, long-term growth, and overall investment direction. Drawing from a career that spans investment banking, commercial real estate, and sustainable development, Jeff leads True Mountain with a focus on disciplined growth, meaningful impact, and building a business with purpose.

After studying finance at the University of Alabama, Jeff began his career in the investment banking industry, developing a strong foundation in capital markets and financial structuring. He later owned and operated several mortgage companies before moving into the commercial interiors manufacturing sector, where he earned distinction as a LEED Accredited Professional. During that time, he wrote procurement policy for Fortune 500 companies, as well as state and federal agencies, and served as a guest lecturer on applied sustainable development at many of the nation’s leading colleges and universities.

After returning to the investment banking world, Jeff merged his expertise in finance, real estate, and sustainability to found True Mountain Capital in January 2021. Under his leadership, the firm developed The Summit Platform, a proprietary system built to source, qualify, structure, and manage New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) and Historic Tax Credit transactions. Jeff also leads True Mountain’s diversification into new ventures, including the upcoming True Mountain Relative Value Fixed Income Fund, launching in 2026.

Jeff is also the Founder and President of the True Mountain Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding long-term addiction recovery and building addiction recovery centers that provide long-term, safe, transformative spaces for healing and renewal. He takes pride in surrounding himself with an exceptional team of professionals who help turn True Mountain’s vision—and its purpose—into reality every day.
